EC Peiting meets Deggendorfer SC and EV Füssen in the Oberliga.

Lukas Gohlke in particular is looking forward to the derby on Sunday.

Peiting – The marathon weeks with 14 games within 37 days are over for EC Peiting.

Until the end of the main round in the Oberliga Süd, which is at the beginning of March, coach Anton Saal's men only have a few games left on the program outside of the weekends.

One of them is the catch-up game against the Passau Black Hawks, which was scheduled for Tuesday, January 31st.

Until then, the ECP will continue with the usual Friday-Sunday rhythm.

In the next two games, the Peitingen team will face two teams against whom they have had a clean record so far this season.

So far there have only been victories against Deggendorfer SC, who are visiting the market town this Friday (7.30 p.m.), and against EV Füssen, where the ECP is playing on Sunday (6 p.m.).

"Maybe the two opponents suit us," speculates Saal.

Although he knows that it will be anything but easy to continue this good series.

On the one hand, there are still personnel worries at Peitingen and, on the other hand, the opponents themselves.

After the false start to the season with three defeats, the Deggendorfers have stabilized and continuously worked their way up to third place.

"Deggendorf has a very good goalkeeper in Timo Pielmeier, who secured a lot of points for them.

And they have a very experienced team with many experienced players," says Saal.

At home, the ECP won in overtime (4:3), away there was a 5:2 win.

At the beginning of December, Lower Bavaria brought reinforcements on board again: Czech center forward Antonin Dusek was signed.

The top scorer for Deggendorf is Petr Stloukal (30 points/16 goals/14 assists).

He now has German citizenship.

The second best DSC scorer is former national player Thomas Greilinger (28 points/13 goals/15 assists).

On Sunday, a no less difficult task awaits the ECP at EV Füssen, which has worked its way up the table with six wins thanks to a top series in December.

The Allgäu team, who have languished in the bottom of the table for a long time, are in seventh place and seven points behind Peitingen in direct competition for sixth place.

"Of course it's an important game, but I don't want to build up any pressure.

There are still many games to go before the end of the main round and we're just watching from game to game," says Saal before the neighbors' duel.

Away, the ECP won 3:2, on their own ice it was 5:3.

By the way: everything from the region is also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.

And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

The accurate strike trio, consisting of the Finn Janne Seppänen, the American Bauer Neudecker and the young homegrown Julian Straub, played a large part in the upswing in the Allgäu.

Together they have 45 goals and 75 assists.

Lukas Gohlke in particular is looking forward to the derby, after all the native of Füssen is going against his home club.

The striker, who has now been playing for Peitinger for eight years, may have to play in defense again against his former club because the ECP there are still having major personnel problems.

Sean Morgan and Tim Rohrbach are still out.

Fabian Weyrich started training again during the week.

Should the longest-serving ECP player recover after his concussion, Gohlke will return to the offensive, where Marco Habermann and Marco Czogallik are still missing.

While Habermann may even face the end of the season due to his hand injury, Czogallik will probably return to the team in the coming week.

Recently, Marc Besl and Sam Payeur, who had been injured for a long time, made their comeback, for whom the game in Füssen is also a return to their old place of work.

"Both need a few more games before they find their old strength again," says Saal.

He also wants to try something tactical at the weekend.

"We're going to reshuffle the offensive lines a bit," says the coach.

A lot stands and falls with the Weyrich return.

What is certain, however, is that the ECP will start with four lines of attack, because the DNL players and funding licensee Marco Niewollik are available.
