An investigation was opened after it was reported that millions of dollars disappeared from an account belonging to Usain Bolt - the Olympic champion and the fastest man in the world.
Bolt's manager, Nugent Walker, told the Gleaner that Jamaica's Financial Investigations Division and the Financial Services Commission are looking into the case with investment company Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL).
Also, SSL themselves filed a police complaint.
Walker said Bolt first noticed what appeared to be a discrepancy between his SSL accounts on Wednesday.
"All the relevant steps were taken to get to the bottom of the matter," Walker said, adding that due to the ongoing investigation, he could not reveal the sums involved.
"He's been with this investment firm for 10 years. His entire portfolio has been reviewed," Walker said.
According to the Gleaner an SSL employee was involved in widespread fraud at the company, and may have been involved in the developments surrounding Bolt as well.
An attorney representing the employee said his client had been speaking with SSL legal representatives for two weeks.
"My client is in discussion with SSL and the lawyers representing the company," he said.
Bolt is considered one of the greatest track athletes of all time and holds world records in the 100, 200 and 4x100 meter relays.
The 36-year-old sprinter retired in 2017, and still has several sponsors.
In 2016 alone, he earned $33 million from endorsements, prize money and entry fees, easily making him the highest-paid track athlete in the world.
