The Bayernliga basketball team from TSV Jahn Freising want to play for a win against Donauwörth.

Positive: The Jahn team is almost at its best.

Freising

– The basketball players of TSV Jahn Freising start the new year with the game against VSC Donauwörth.

After the defeat before the Christmas break, they want to get back on the road to success with a win against the seventh-placed team in the Bayernliga Südwest.

The game starts on Saturday at 7.30 p.m. in the Steinpark-Halle.

In autumn, the young Jahn team surprised the competition with its winning streak.

Instead of staying up, the goal for the season was suddenly promotion.

The defeat in mid-November at the previously unbeaten MTV Munich and above all the defeat in the last home game in 2022 against FC Bayern Munich IV dampened the euphoria a little.

"It's not a broken leg if we don't get promoted this year," emphasizes Jahn coach Oliver Stojanovski.

"If we compare the last few years, when we've always fought against relegation, things have gone extremely well so far.

Before the season, nobody expected that we could be at the top of the table.”

Stojanovski demands full throttle from the start

Stojanovski is very happy that there was a longer break after the ultimately unnecessary home defeat against Bayern IV.

"The team should have come to terms with the defeat by now," hopes the coach.

In training, his team just sprayed with enthusiasm and motivation.

Clear case: TSV Jahn wants to celebrate another win against Donauwörth.

“Despite the two defeats of the season, our claim remains the same.

We go into every game to win it,” emphasizes Stojanovski.

Of course, he urgently warns against underestimating Donauwörth.

"We have to be focused right from the start and give it our all."

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Two Jahn players are out

The coach is optimistic about the game.

With the exception of Adis Salihovic (was ill) and Kevin Nickel (due to work, he has to take a break from basketball for a few weeks), the Freising team can start with the best line-up.

"The team came through the break well and seems fit," said Stojanovski.

With a win against Donauwörth, the Domstädter could stay on the heels of MTV Munich together with FC Bayern Munich IV.

The season is still long.

And even MTV can afford to slip up.

Then it could get exciting again - provided that TSV Jahn starts a new winning streak.
