Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was attacked by a spectator after Arsenal's victory in the city duel against arch-rival Tottenham Hotspur.

The fan hit the 24-year-old Arsenal keeper in the back as he went for a bottle from behind goal.

Videos on social media suggest Ramsdale was lightly hit.

The goalkeeper then immediately turned to the fan, who was standing on an advertising board when he kicked and then fled in the direction of the exit.

A steward immediately intervened, more and more players from both teams joined, and a tumultuous scene developed.

Shortly before the kick, the keeper clashed with Tottenham striker Richarlison.

"It's a shame, at the end of the day it's just a football game," said Ramsdale, who excelled in that game.

He was hit in the back.

"I think players from both teams tried to get me away and fortunately nothing too drastic happened." The Daily Mail wrote: "Chaos broke out after the North London Derby".

"We are appalled by the behavior of a supporter who attempted to tackle Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale at the end of today's game.

Violence in any form has no place in football," Tottenham wrote in a statement.

The perpetrator is now being sought.

Premier League leaders Arsenal won the prestigious North London derby 2-0 to extend their lead.

The team is currently eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.

Before the game, Spurs fans and security forces clashed at Tottenham's stadium as some supporters tried to get through to the arriving Arsenal supporters.
