Struggling Chelsea are investing heavily in the future

After being taken over by a consortium led by US businessman Todd Boehly, Chelsea FC is still undergoing restructuring.

The mega transfer of Ukrainian top talent Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk should help get the struggling tenth-placed Premier League team back on track.

Chelsea confirmed negotiations with the Ukrainian giants over the terms of a transfer.

As Shakhtar announced, both parties are close to an agreement.

According to media reports, the transfer fee for the 22-year-old midfielder should be around 100 million euros.

In addition to a base amount of 70 million euros, another 30 million euros in possible bonuses are to be added.

Mudryk should receive a seven-year contract and the medical check should be carried out promptly, it said.

Mudryk would be the icing on the cake in a string of recent transfers.

Chelsea have also signed Portugal international striker João Félix from Atlético Madrid after signing forward David Fofana, centre-back Benoit Badiashile and midfielder Andrey Santos.

Hoffenheim cashed in again in England

The transfer poker for offensive player Georginio Rutter from the Bundesliga soccer club TSG Hoffenheim is over.

As both clubs confirmed on Saturday night, the attacking player is moving to Leeds United with immediate effect.

In fourteenth place in the English Premier League, the 20-year-old has been given a contract until 2028. Hoffenheim, including bonus payments, will receive a transfer fee of up to 40 million euros.

The French U21 international, whose transfer to the club of former Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch has been speculated for days, has made 17 competitive appearances this season and scored two goals.

Rutter moved from Stade Rennes to Hoffenheim in February 2021 for 750,000 euros.

Rutter is already the third player that TSG Hoffenheim has been able to sell to the Premier League for at least 40 million euros.

Hoffenheim received 45 million euros for the transfer from Joelinton to Newcastle United in 2019, previously 41 million for his Brazilian compatriot Roberto Firmino (2015 to Liverpool FC).

A replacement for Rutter was found shortly before the turn of the year in Kasper Dolberg.

The 25-year-old Dane is initially on loan from OGC Nice in the Kraichgau until the end of the season and can then be signed thanks to a purchase option.
