Felix Neureuther made his comeback as a TV expert on ARD at the weekend - just a few days after the death of his mother Rosi Mittermaier.

There was a lot of praise for that.

Wengen – Rosi Mittermaier's death moved all of Germany.

The ski legend died on January 4, 2023 from cancer.

Very few knew that the double Olympic champion was seriously ill.

The family said goodbye in this most difficult time with a touching obituary.

Many a winter sports fan must have been surprised just eight days after Rosi Mittermaier's death when Felix Neureuther was suddenly seen live on ARD.

Mittermaier's son resumed his work as a TV expert on Friday, commenting on the Super-G in Wengen together with Bernd Schmelzer.

On Saturday and Sunday there were also Neureuther events on the downhill and slalom programmes.

On Friday, at the beginning of the broadcast, Neureuther gave the direct answer as to why he was back at work just a few days after this severe stroke of fate.

It was an "explicit wish" from his mother Rosi that the son go to Wengen.

The winter sports destination in Switzerland is a "place of power" for the family.

Rosi Mittermaier had achieved good results several times in nearby Grindelwald, while Felix himself "didn't ski that badly a few times" in Wengen, as he himself explained.

His father Christian Neureuther even won two races there.

"That's why it's good to be here, and absolutely in the interest of mom," said Felix Neureuther on ARD.

“It has to return to some degree of normality at home as well.

That is very important in the process of deep grief.” Of course, there was no question that it was a “very difficult time” for the family.
