Munich / Katowice – The second group game of the DHB selection at the Handball World Cup 2023 is coming up.
At the start, Germany had deservedly beat Qatar 31:27 (18:12) in Kattowitz, but in the end kept the game unnecessarily exciting.
This carelessness must not happen to the team of national coach Alfred Gislason against the 2012 European Championship runners-up.
Therefore, assistant coach Erik Wudtke warns the team around youngster Juri Knorr before a "crunchy task".

Despite the initial success, the headlines in Germany were unfortunately not purely of a sporting nature.
The reason: Christian Schwarzer.
A hearty beating by the German handball boss, incredulous shaking of the head in the league and great incomprehension in the DHB team: The reactions to the crude statements of 2007 world champion Christian Schwarzer about referees in the men's area are tough.
Blacky's blackout heated up tempers on the first World Cup weekend.
"It's a pity that such a great national player is maneuvered offside in such a way," said DHB President Andreas Michelmann to SID and reprimanded Schwarzer's behavior: "I find these statements absolutely out of date and completely out of place." Germany's captain Johannes Golla asked clear: "It makes no difference to me who directs the games."

Hanbdall World Cup 2023: "Out of time" - Blacky's blackout heats up
The 318-time national player Schwarzer had previously criticized the nomination of women's referees for the men's World Cup (until January 29), just two days after the historic premiere of Maike Merz and Tanja Kuttler as the first female German World Cup team.
"I have no idea how the idea of letting women whistle for men came up," said the 2007 world champion in the podcast "Enlightening by Blacky Schwarzer".
In his active career he missed female referees on the field "by no means": "I wouldn't have done it: They can whistle for women - and men whistle for men, but that's my attitude towards it now - and it decides other people about it.”
The two women
skillfully parried the statements on
ARD .
“Everyone has the right to freely express their opinion.
He can do that too," said World Cup referee Merz at the sports show: "We don't have to say more about it."
