Christian Schwarzer criticizes the IHB's decision – the referee duo reacts calmly
"I wouldn't have done it: They can whistle for women - and men whistle for men, but that's my attitude now - and other people decide about it," said the 53-year-old.
The referee duo reacted immediately to the criticism and gave Schwarzer the cold shoulder.
“Everyone has the right to freely express their opinion.
He can do that too," said Merz calmly.
Others reacted more violently to Schwarzer's statements.
"I think these statements are absolutely out of date and completely out of place," criticized DHB boss Andreas Michelmann.
"It's a shame that such a great national player is maneuvered offside in such a way."
DHB captain Johannes Golla praises the team of referees for dealing well with players
And Germany's captain also commented on the discussion about the duo Merz/Kutter.
"It doesn't make any difference to me who is in charge of the games," said Johannes Golla.
The circle runner, who knows the referees from the Handball Bundesliga, instead praises the qualities of the duo.
“They are very respectful of the players.
That's what you want from every team of referees."
