After the events that almost caused the explosion of the volleyball game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Omunia Nicosia, the Minister of Culture and Sports shared experiences from the field today (Sunday) in the closed part of the government meeting.
"Last Thursday, I randomly arrived at the quarter-final match of the European Volleyball Cup. Out of nowhere, everything started to deteriorate into a serious violent incident that almost fatally affected Israeli sports. I saw before my eyes an extremely alarming phenomenon, I saw in the stands dozens of fans dressed in black, masked, who started throwing flares at the court and threw objects at players from the opposing team who were on the field.

"I grabbed the microphone and appealed to the fans to stop the violence, and it didn't help. Maccabi Tel Aviv won 0:3, in this case we were able to save the game after I talked to the European observer, which could have easily ended in a technical loss.
In the meantime, Zohar appealed to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice and the Minister of National Security to help him prepare a national plan in order to eradicate this dangerous phenomenon.

"I intend to bring a national emergency plan on this issue that we will formulate together to fight the phenomenon of violence in the fields.
I really believe that this is one of our most important tasks as a government," he said.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar to hold a professional meeting with the Minister of Justice and the Minister of National Security to formulate a plan to eradicate the phenomenon.
