Polish champion Iga Świentek reached the second round of the Australian Open tennis tournament, the first major tournament of the year.
The first seed qualified in the tournament after defeating German Julie Niemeyer this morning, in two sets without answering her details, 6/4 and 7/5.
In the second round, she will meet the Colombian Camila Osorio, who in turn defeated the Hungarian Bana Udvardi, 6/4, 6/1.
While the most prominent qualifiers for the same round were the third-seeded American Jessica Pegula, the sixth-seeded Greek Mari Sakkari, and the seventh-seeded American Corey Gauff.
