The Martin Luther King Jr. season in the NBA opens tonight (Monday) earlier than usual with the victory of the Boston Celtics over the Charlotte Hornets.
Charlotte Hornets - Boston Celtics 118:130
The Celtics stopped a late run by the Hornets on the way to a seventh straight win, while getting another performance from Jayson Tatum (season high 51 points) on the way to a 118:130 victory.
Tatum led Boston with his seventh 40-point performance of the season, scoring 18 of his 51 points in the fourth quarter.
Jaylen McDaniels' 26 points and LaMelo Ball's 25 were not enough for the Hornets, who lose to Boston twice in a row, their losing streak is five and they are in second to last place in the East, with only Houston having a worse record in the league.
