The Drunken City Tigers win their third title at the 11th TV Stockdorf Stüberl Cup.

The indoor football event fulfills all expectations: booth magic, party, class reunion.

Stockdorf/Gauting – Expectations were high and they were not disappointed.

After a three-year break, the Stüberl Cup, traditionally organized by TV Stockdorf on the second weekend in January, has celebrated a successful comeback.

“It was an unforgettable day.

Of course, a tournament like this always involves a lot of effort.

But afterwards you know: It was worth it”, the tired but satisfied organizer Korbinian Halmich summed up the Saturday.

But afterwards you know: It was worth it.

With its well-established mixture of sporting competition, party atmosphere and Würmtal class reunion, the 11th edition of the Stüberl Cup once again ensured full ranks and a unique atmosphere in the gym of the Paul Hey Middle School in Gauting.

“Everything worked great, from sales to the stadium announcer.

A big thank you to everyone who helped out.

Without them, it would not be possible to put on a festival like this," said Halmich.

In fact, the event is more of a festival than a classic indoor tournament.

What's happening in the stands and socializing is just as important as what's happening on the pitch.

It was noticeable to the participants: whoever you spoke to on Saturday, almost everyone had a twinkle in their eyes.

Regardless of how many cold drinks the people had already consumed and whether their team was now playing for entry into the final or for one of the lower places.

For many of the participants, the celebration marathon began the evening before the tournament and was far from over after the award ceremony on Saturday afternoon.

There was also a lot going on at the "Players' Night", which took place for the first time in the Alter Wirt in Krailling.

"It was amazing how many people were there," said Halmich.

There was also a lot to do in terms of sport with exciting games and some dream goals.

It was close in both groups of five.

In group A, the defending champion Vino della Casa (TSV Neuried), the 2019 winner Drunken City Tigers (TSV Pentenried, reinforced with players from TSV Gilching II), coached by the injured Quirin Wiedemann, and the Gaffel Kölsch team (mix from the Würmtal) were equal three teams after the preliminary round on nine points.

Only thanks to the better goal difference, Vino della Casa and the Drunken City Tigers moved into the semifinals.

Group B, on the other hand, was dominated by the veterans: Team PSG, the old men's game community from Pentenried, Stockdorf and Graefelfing, secured the group victory with four wins from four games, second place went to record winner Discoboys (SV Planegg-Krailling).

The Würmtal offensive was also convincing with organizer Halmich in goal as well as Marco Gühl and Tobias Schöglmann, who was still in top shape even after the end of his career.

In the decisive encounter in the final group game, however, the offensive lost 2:6 against the concentrated experience of the SVP around noble technician Markus Steber.

In the first semi-final, the finalists from the last edition in 2020, Vino della Casa and Discoburschen, faced each other.

After a goalless draw, it went to penalties, in which three Neurieders lost their nerve.

The Drunken City Tigers won the equally tight second semi-final against PSG 1-0.

In the final it looked like the fourth title for the disco boys.

They led 2-1 after about half the season and were a man up after a two-minute penalty.

But outnumbered, the Tigers turned the game around and, thanks to several counterattacks, won 6-2 in the end.

Everyone has been looking forward to it for weeks.

The Stüberl Cup is simply the biggest in the Würmtal.

He emphasized the high importance of the tournament, even after a two-year break: "Everyone has been looking forward to it for weeks.
