A dramatic twist at the Salernitana: the Italian club chose Wednesday to recall coach Davide Nicola to the bench, just two days after announcing his ousting the day after the rout on the field of Atalanta Bergamo (8-2) .
Davide Nicola published a message on social networks assuring that he would finally remain in office after having "asked with all (his) strength for the president to reconsider his decision".
Asked by AFP, the Salernitana confirmed that Nicola, 49, would continue his contract, running until 2024, signed in June after having managed to win the maintenance.

Davide Nicola entered the hearts of the club's tifosi last season by ensuring an unexpected maintenance: arriving on the bench in February when Salernitana was vegetating in last place, he had reversed the situation and saved the head of the club.
Despite this, the club announced its ousting on Monday, after the rout in Bergamo which prolonged a bad series of six games without victories.
The Salerno club, south of Naples, fell to 16th place in the standings one day from the end of the first leg but still have a comfortable nine-point margin on the relegation zone.
