The court of the Football Association decided today (Thursday) to punish Maccabi Tel Aviv with one radius match, following the growls of some of its fans towards the Bnei Sakhnin defender, Taleb Tavatcha.
The court's decision reads: "There is no need to exaggerate the despicable phenomenon that pervades our places of racist chants. It doesn't matter who the object of the chants is, racism is racism is racism! I am aware of the difficulty of identifying growls using the security cameras without the sound. The accused did locate a number of fans, with Because I will point out that the names of the subscribers do not match the fans themselves.
"In the last 12 months, the accused has been convicted, until this conviction, 9 (!!!) times for the crime of racist chants. Examining the various chants reveals a wide and despicable repertoire of racist chants in addition to snarls, such as: "It tastes like a terrorist", "Death to the Arabs", "Tano For the IDF to fuck the Arabs", "May your village burn", "Muhammad is dead" and more.
"When I come to sentence the accused, I also take into account the position of the international organizations and the soccer association regarding zero tolerance against racism in general and racist chants in particular."
The yellows reacted strongly to the punishment and attacked: "The Maccabi Tel Aviv football club sees the court's decision as a disproportionate punishment that harms the club and the vast majority of the audience accompanying the team. Throughout the season, Maccabi Tel Aviv fans demonstrated maturity in regards to racist chants and also during the case protested against the despicable behavior of fans individual as also stated in the judgment report and presented to the court.
In addition, this is the first time this season that the club has been prosecuted for this type of offense.
As usual, the club invested valuable time and resources in investigating the incident in order to locate fans who do not have a subscription and keep them away.
We call at all times to avoid and eradicate any racist and violent phenomenon that does not represent the values of the club and our fans."
