Australian Open: Benjamin Bonzi creates the feat and wins in five sets against Carreno Busta

2023-01-19T12:22:53.763Z

Led two sets to zero, the Frenchman, 50th in the world, managed to win against the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta after more than four hours of play. It's a real performance for Benjamin Bonzi who qualifies for the 3rd round of the Australian Open.

He will undoubtedly remember this day.

For the first time in his career, Benjamin Bonzi (26 years old, 50th in the world) will see the 3rd round of a Grand Slam after his victories in five sets (4-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-1, 7 -6) against Pablo Carreno Busta (11th in the world).

It was however badly embarked for the French after the loss of the first two legs.

But Bonzi came back from nowhere to win, in a super tie-break, against a winner of a Master 1000 (in Montreal in August 2022).

After this victory, Benjamin Bonzi will face Alex de Minaur in the third round of the Australian Open.
