After a particularly dramatic game, which included 45 minutes, revolutions and baskets from another world - Maccabi Ashdod won the State Cup for the fifth time in its history this evening (Thursday) with a 78:84 victory over Maccabi Haifa after overtime.
After five seasons, the Ashdodites managed to bring the title home, not least thanks to Shatori Walker, who was chosen as the outstanding player of the final thanks to a great game (double double of 24 points and 10 rebounds).
On the other side, 26 points from Eton Bulgak were not enough for the Greens, who dreamed of lifting the title for the first time in their history but in extra time they simply ran out of energy.
Scorers for Ashdod: Brown 25 (10 rebounds), Walker 24, Heideman 19 (7 rebounds), Alex Cohen 7, Edelman 6, Sahar 3. For Maccabi Haifa: Bulgak 26 and 12 rebounds, Hopkins 20, Okonkwo and Lev 16 each.
