Skipper Brieuc Maisonneuve's catamaran, which capsized on November 13, ran aground on the coast at Guidel in very poor condition.

Walkers on the beautiful beaches of Guidel, a town in Morbihan, were surprised to see a boat from the Route du rhum run aground on Monday.

A catamaran belonging to Brieuc Maisonneuve (or rather what's left of it) reappeared in very poor condition on the sand, smashed on the rocks for many weeks after it capsized on November 13th.

The skipper, who had tried to recover his boat by setting up a kitty, had almost made up his mind in recent weeks: CMA Île-de-France – 60,000 rebounds seemed lost forever, swallowed up by the ocean.

With the strong winds blowing for the past few days, the catamaran adrift for more than two months finally touched down on the mainland.

Brieuc Maisonneuve confided his surprise, but also his bitterness on discovering the carcass of his boat.

I was told that the boat was in Guidel and that it had burst.

To find your boat in this state is horrible.

I have difficulty believing it.

I always hoped to find him.

We know that these boats, they float well upside down.

If it is, 24 hours ago, the boat was 10 miles offshore, it was intact.

There, it is destroyed

”, he confided to Ouest France before relativizing: “

What is important to say is that potentially, it was 9 tons of plastic pollution adrift and even if today the boat is destroyed, we recovered it, this pollution will be treated.

That's the positive side of it

."

The boat was able to be removed from the beach a few hours after surfacing.

The boat was removed hours after running aground.

On November 13, the catamaran, which had gone downwind, had accelerated before turning over "like a pancake", the navigator had confided to the Telegram.

In the middle of the night, Jean-Pierre Dick (Dick) came to the aid of the skipper in hollows of five meters.

A successful rescue for the duo who had seen the boat move away, symbol of a project financed to the tune of 200,000 euros.
