Ofira Assig and Eyal Berkovic do not forget and return fire in the direction of the Minister of Communications.
After Shlomo Karai promised about a week ago that he would cut the public broadcasting budget and at the same time harshly attacked Ofira Assig and Eyal Berkovich's program which he called "an intellectual disgrace that is not worthy of broadcasting", the pair of hosts decided tonight (Friday) not to keep it in their hearts.
In the opening monologue of the program 'Ofira and Barko', which was broadcast this evening on Keshet 12, Berkowitz first compared contemporary Israel to Iran 50 years ago.

Later, Assig took the floor: "I want to tell Shlomo Karai something very clear. We are here every Friday and we have no intention of moving from here and not letting you shut us up or any other media outlet.
"Neither our opinions nor our requests - even if it doesn't suit you. Because that's how it is in a democracy. It's called 'freedom of speech' so you'll learn to behave and conduct yourself."

As you may recall, the conflict between the two sides began when the Minister of Communications, Shlomo Karai, presented his position against the broadcasting channels last night in an interview with the program "Meet the Press" and even claimed that he would cut the public broadcasting budget in half.
For dessert, Karai called the current affairs program of Ofira Assig and Eyal Berkowitz an "intellectual disgrace".
Even earlier, he added that: "When my plan is completed, an intellectual disgrace like Opira and Berkovich's plan will not be able to pass quietly, it will hurt your pocket."
So far.
I intend to remove the barriers between the public and the media.
Today, reporters serve their full complement.
In my vision, reporters will serve the public.
When my reform is completed in Gaza, channels will not be able to broadcast intellectual disgrace like Ofira and Barko without it hurting their pockets - by the public, not by the regulator. pic.twitter.com/XyoYh8fEfq

In order to reinforce his words, Mr. Karai added a tweet in which he clarified: "Enough! I intend to remove the partitions between the public and the media.
Today, reporters serve their full complement.
In my vision - reporters will serve the public." And if that's not enough, in the same post, the Honorable Minister called Ofira and Berkowitz's program: "an intellectual disgrace that does not deserve to be broadcast."
