Cameroonian international Vincent Aboubakar, pushed out by Saudi club Al-Nassr to make room for Cristiano Ronaldo, is returning to Besiktas a year and a half after leaving Istanbul, the Turkish club has announced Saturday.
"Vincent Aboubakar is officially a Black Eagle again!" Besiktas wrote on Twitter, noting the return of the striker on the eve of his 31st birthday, after two seasons at the Istanbul club (2016-2017 and 2020-2021).
The captain of the Indomitable Lions had, despite himself, found himself in the heart of a curious situation at the beginning of January when his previous club, Al-Nassr, broke his contract to free up one of the eight places for foreign players authorized by the Saudi federation, making it possible to welcome the Portuguese star Ronaldo.
The game of musical chairs continued when Dutch striker Wout Weghorst, on loan from Burnley to Besiktas, left Istanbul to finish the season at Manchester United, filling the departure of "CR7".
Aboubakar therefore seized this vacated place in the attack of the Istanbul club, which did not specify the duration of the contract from which he would benefit.
Besiktas also made fun of this situation by posting several videos on social networks illustrating these transfers.
Captain of Cameroon, Aboubakar stood out at the 2022 World Cup by giving the Indomitable Lions victory against Brazil (1-0).
