Danny Avdia did come to the NBA as a versatile offensive potential, but he is making his name in the best league in the world mainly thanks to his defensive abilities.
Today (Saturday) Washington coach Wes Anseld Jr. commented on this, saying: "The biggest thing right now is that he is doing a great job avoiding fouls. In general, he is more disciplined, maybe he feels his opponents better, understands the game plan better , the weaknesses of the opponents. He does an excellent job of not falling into traps."
The Israeli himself also admitted that he feels more comfortable in his third season in the best league in the world.
"I feel comfortable," he said.
"Sometimes I guard the best players, so it's complicated, but it's part of my growth. I feel confident and comfortable, I know I'm able to make moves in defense to help the team. There's no doubt that I'm a brand new player in defense."
In an article published on the official website of the Wizards, these things were backed up with numbers, which show that Avdia is one of the best guards in the team, according to any statistical measure.
"I like that the professional team trusts me," said the Israeli.
"They want me to make moves, to help the team, they give me a role and I like it, they make me feel important. I feel that I am physically stronger, I jump higher and know where to be."
