The previous 11-game winning streak came after the Malmo trauma, the current one after the Juventus festival. Between Bukoli and Ketan in 2005/06 and Atzili and Dinda in 2022/23: the data, the goals and the conclusions

Summary: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel Jerusalem 1:2 (Sport1)

On August 27, 2005, three and a half weeks after "Oi Davidovich" and Shlomi Arbeitman's stupid red, Maccabi Haifa began its recovery journey from Malmo trauma with a 1:4 home win over Bnei Sakhnin in the first round of the Premier League.

From there, the Greens went on to a club record of 11 consecutive victories, en route to a crushing championship - the third in a row in the Roni Levy era.

That record stood for more than 17 years and survived a near miss last season, until it was equaled eight days ago.

This time Maccabi Haifa didn't do it following a trauma, but after getting a European monkey off their back with their first victory in the group stage of the Champions League after 20 years (a prestigious 0:2 over Juventus).

A few days before, she was surprised in the league by Benny Raina, but since then she has only been winning.

11 consecutive victories, with an option for overtime tonight (Monday, 8:30 p.m.).

If you succeed in beating Maccabi Tel Aviv in Bloomfield for the first time since May 2011, Maccabi Haifa model 2022/23 will smash the club's record that symbolized the previous dynasty and take a huge step towards a third championship in a row also with Barak Becher.

A new dynasty.

The previous record, as mentioned, was at the start of the 2005/06 season.

Maccabi Haifa finished a perfect first round (the league was made up of 12 teams at the time) before being tied 2:2 in Sakhnin.

It had 33 points out of a possible 33 - 12 more than the second-ranked Po'el Tel Aviv.

She didn't score in bunches, but still finished the round as the best offense in the league (23 goals) and as the strongest defense (only eight interceptions).

In that season, Maccabi Haifa used to decide games at an early stage and then rest.

Against Sakhnin she scored all four goals before the 40th minute, in the second round she led 0:3 over Maccabi Petah Tikva in the 35th minute (before the visitors scored a double), she also beat Hapoel Petah Tikva and Bnei Yehuda in the first half and Maccabi Tel Aviv in the round The 10th led 0:2 from a clutch by Gustavo Boccoli (11 and 35) before lowering a gear and allowing the guest to shrink.

In fact, the only minutes behind in that entire streak were in the 11th and final win.

Alan Masudi gave Maccabi Netanya a lead in the 15th minute in the box and the perfect balance of the greens was in danger, but Roberto Colotti, who had not scored since the second round, broke the drought with a late pair (76 and 84) and Boccoli made it 1:3 in the final minute.

The Brazilian, who later became a citizen, was Maccabi Haifa's leading scorer during the winning streak.

He had six goals in the first 11 rounds, on his way to the title of player of the season with 12 and nine assists (Omer Atzili is already with the same number of goals and one less assist) followed by Yaniv Katan and Michael Zandberg with five each.

Kolouti and Idan Tal added three each and Shlomi Arbeitman contributed a goal in the opening round.

Yes, only six players found the back of the net during the 11 victories, eight of which, by the way, were on the edge of a goal.

In two cases the champion won by a difference of two goals and only in the opening round did it by a bigger margin (1:4 over Sakhnin), when in four games out of the 11 Nir Davidovich kept a clean sheet.

Even after the record and when the pace of victories waned, among other things due to the transfer of Yaniv Ketan to West Ham, the identity of the champion was not questioned.

In 2005/06, Maccabi Haifa traveled to a third championship in a row and sealed it with a gap of 16 points from Po'el Tel Aviv - a historic difference in the top league, until the shattering of Maccabi Tel Aviv that almost doubled the record in the championship in 2018/19 (31 points advantage over its runner-up Maccabi Haifa).

This time she has four victories by a goal, five with a difference of two goals and another two victories with a difference of three, when in five of the 11 games she did not put a ball out of the net.

In terms of the number of scorers, this time nine different players contributed to the streak.

Dean David and Azili led the way with six goals each, Franzi Piero contributed four before falling into a drought, Charon Sherry scored three, Abdulai Sek and Mohamed Abu Fani allowed twice each and Dylan Batubinsika, Nikita Rocavicia and even Rami Gershon scored during the winning streak.

Two more goals were own.

Before the streak, Maccabi Haifa was in second place and one point behind Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Now, on the eve of the season's game, she is ahead of her opponent by eight points.

Will the streak stop in the 12th game this time as well?
