After recording the worst second quarter in its history with a disgraceful 43:13 and trailing by 25 points at the break, the Los Angeles Lakers looked lost in Portland.
However, with an amazing third quarter of 20:40 and an offensive second half for the pantheon of LeBron James, who scored 38 points, they led L.A.
for a magnificent comeback and 112:121 outside.
But with all due respect to LeBron, and there is a lot of respect, the hero of this game was actually Patrick Beverly.
The center, who excels mainly in his defensive game, paralyzed the big star Damian Lillard on the other side and finished this game with a plus-minus of plus-27 in the 29 minutes he played.
Beverley was the one who took command even at halftime and revealed after the game what he said to his friends in the locker room: "Understand that we are lucky to play this game that gives us financial stability to take care of our families, to live a life at a high level that other people only dream of. That was my message and the guys the internalized".

It was the second-largest halftime comeback in Lakers history, surpassed only by the 2002 comeback against Dallas in which they came from 28 down.
Beverly did everything he could to get Lillard out of focus.
He received a technical for talking during Lillard's free throw and continued to taunt him in the second half.
"He lives for these moments," Dennis Schroeder said after the game, "that's what he's been doing his entire career and you can't blame him."
Schroeder also refers to Beverley's "tribute" to Lillard, emulating his famous clock movement when the game was already decided in favor of the Lakers.
And Lillard did have a really hard time against Beverley.
He finished this game with only 24 points on a terrible percentage (5 of 17) hitting only 3 threes in 13 attempts and this in a week when he reached the 40 point mark twice against Dallas and Denver.

"They started to smell blood and Baron continued to attack and attack," admitted defeated coach Chani Billups, "we were very vulnerable and it would be a close game."
James scored 20 of his 37 points in the second half and was simply in the zone.
"You can give up the game and think about the next game, or you can wait to see what happens in the third quarter and get back to the game," said LeBron, "We like to compete, we are not a team that gives up on anything, it doesn't suit this club"
