PSG: Mbappé scores the 1500th goal of the QSI era

2023-01-23T20:38:09.157Z

With Kylian Mbappé's second goal on Monday evening, PSG reached the 1,500 goal mark since the takeover by Qatar Sports Investments on 30

It was a seemingly harmless goal that sealed the victory for PSG and destroyed the little suspense that surrounded the round of 16 of the Coupe de France between Pays de Cassel and PSG.

In the 35th minute, Kylian Mbappé scored the 3rd Parisian goal and the 1,500th goal in all competitions for his club since the takeover by QSI in 2011. While PSG have crushed all competition for a decade, they are breaking records after records and allowing its successive attackers to leave their mark on history.

Mbappé chasing Cavani's record

In the list of top scorers in the history of PSG, the first 4 places are occupied by players from the QSI era, further proof of the impact of the shareholder on the history and identity of the club of the capital city.

Edinson Cavani, with 200 goals in 301 games, is the top scorer in club history.

He is closely followed by Kylian Mbappé (194) who should soon overtake him.

Then come Zlatan Ibrahimovic (156 goals) and Neymar (115).

When it comes to goal-per-game ratio, Carlos Bianchi remains untouchable.

With 0.887 goals per game, he is ahead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic (0.867) and Kylian Mbappé.

More than 1000 goals in Ligue 1

Unsurprisingly, the competition in which PSG have scored the most goals since 2011 is Ligue 1 (1,008 goals in 426 games).

The Champions League comes in second place (220 goals in 101 games) and the Coupe de France closes the top 3. But once under the prism of the goal ratio scored per game played, these stats reveal a completely different truth, the Ligue des Champions is the competition in which PSG scores the fewest goals per game with an average of 2,178.

The Coupe de France is the favorite competition of the Parisian club while in Ligue 1, the Parisians score 2,366 goals per game.

2017-2018, with Emery, the most prolific season

After the humiliating comeback against FC Barcelona (6-1), the shareholders realize a historic transfer window.

Neymar and Mbappé land to support Cavani and Di Maria in attack.

This quartet will devastate everything to reach the highest total in club history during the 2017-2018 season: 171 goals scored, 70 goals more than the club's least prolific season under QSI.

It was in 2011-2012, under the orders of Antoine Kombouaré then Carlo Ancelotti.
