The court of the Football Association today (Wednesday) imposed fines on Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv for delaying the opening whistle.
However, in the two different games (of the Greens against Hapoel Jerusalem, and of the Yellows against the champion last Monday) the delay was due to the fact that both held ceremonies for children with disabilities.
The children moved to and from the field with special walkers, as a result there was a slight delay in the start of the game, when in Maccabi Haifa's game it was a total of four minutes, and in the game hosted by Tel Aviv the delay amounted to a minute.
Although both groups explained in detail what led to the negligible delay, the judge Giora Landau chose to fine both of them financially.
1,000 NIS fine for each club.
"It would have been better if the court had considered the situation, a ceremony for cute children with disabilities, a welcome initiative by the two clubs, and would not have fined them, but rather draw the attention of the relevant authorities to the fact that such ceremonies should be brought forward in the future," said those officials, who did not really understand Why does the association's prosecutor, attorney Nir Rashef, find it appropriate to prosecute the groups in such cases and does not act differently in order to prevent delays in the opening for similar reasons.
