Windsurfing World Cup: Sharon Kantor is getting closer to the top Israel today

The Israeli kept the second overall place in the competition at the end of the second sailing day • Katie Spichkov ranked third • In the men's category: Tom Reuvani dropped to seventh place

The second day of the year-opening competition of the Windsurfing World Cup continued exactly where it left off yesterday.

Total control of the Israeli team establishes five surfers among the top ten of the competition, while there is no change in the order of places at the top.

Today (Wednesday) there were held in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, two course cruises in a high wind followed by the important marathon cruise, the result of which is doubled and actually counts as two cruises.

Israel's Sharon Kantor is in second place overall, narrowing the gap from the leader of the competition, Spain's Pilar Madrid, to only one point.

Cantor won the marathon after a close fight with Madrid in the last straight to the finish line.

So far Kantor has won two races and finished second in three.

Kati Spichkov, who is in third place overall, started the first cruise today with a storm and led throughout, until she fell fifty meters before the finish line, when she clears the way to victory for Shahar Tibi.

Daniela Peleg maintains the fifth place in the competition, even though she had to withdraw from the marathon due to a break in her surfboard.

Maya Morris improved two places and is currently in seventh place overall.

Two more days of cruises will determine which ten women will advance to the medal cruises, which will take place on Saturday.

For the men, there are two Israelis in the top ten.

Tom Reuveni slipped from third place yesterday to seventh place at the end of the day.

Reuveni has been dominant in most of the races so far, but has suffered two weak races, so he will have to maintain stability in the next two days in order to stay in the top ten picture.

At the moment, 12 points separate Reuveni from the surfer in tenth place.

Right after Reuveni is Yoav Cohen, in 13th place overall Tomer Vardimon and in 16th place is Yoav Omer.
