Olympic wrestler Ilana Kartish decided to return to activity, to compete for the ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
The 32-year-old Kartish, who represented Israel at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and was four times runner-up at the European Championships, gave birth to her second daughter Noya eight months ago.
After she managed to beat female athletes who came here for training camps recently, Kartish realized and felt that it was her time to return to activity.
"I was looking for the moment to come back and this is the right time," Kartish told Israel Hayom.
"I train mainly in Haifa, but occasionally come to Be'er Sheva, despite the difficult journeys. I missed wrestling very much, I loved what I did, I am still the only female wrestler in Israel and believe in the potential I have."
Kartish also said: "I saw the annual program and there is an Olympic criterion, I believe I can do it, as this time I come smarter and more calculated. The experience pays off. Since Rio I have seen how the industry develops and I know so well what I need to do to be At the level I was.
"I really wanted to get to Tokyo but I got injured on the way. Now my body is functioning after two births, and mentally I am very strong and ready to wrestle for this opportunity."
Kartish's first comeback competition is expected next month (February 17) as part of the Israel Championship that will be held in Beer Sheva.
After that, she intends to take part in an international competition in Sofia, and then go to the European Championships in April, which will be held in Croatia.
