Ivorian Kolo Toure has been sacked as manager of Wigan, the Championship, having failed to win a single of nine matches since he was on the bench, the English second division club announced on Thursday.
“
Unfortunately the results on the pitch were not what we would have liked to see
,” said Wigan manager Malachy Brannigan.
The 41-year-old former Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool defender signed up for three seasons with the “Latics” at the end of November, for his first experience at the head of a professional team.
But Wigan have only taken two points in seven Championship games, and find themselves last in the standings, four lengths behind the first non-relegation player.
Wigan were also knocked out of the FA Cup after a draw and then a defeat against Luton.
Prior to Wigan, Touré was an assistant coach at Ivory Coast, Celtic Glasgow and Leicester.
