Bayer Leverkusen's winning streak came to an end with the 0:2 (0:1) against Borussia Dortmund.

The Dortmund goals were scored by Karim Adeyemi (33rd minute) and Edmond Tapsoba with an own goal (53rd).

BVB moves up to fourth place as a result of the success, while Leverkusen slips to ninth place.

Although both teams started the new football year with two wins each, the coaches made changes in their first eleven.

Amine Adli and Argentinian world champion Exequiel Palacios started at Leverkusen, Marius Wolf, Jude Bellingham (after a yellow card suspension) and, for the first time after surviving cancer, Sébastien Haller started at BVB.

Kobel reacted brilliantly several times

There have been six or more goals in three of the last four games in Leverkusen between Bayern and BVB.

And after 16 minutes, only a strong save by BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel prevented the first goal of the afternoon: Moussa Diaby had fired from a half-right position after a pass from Florian Wirtz, and Kobel cleared the corner with his fingertips.

There was cheering on the other side: a cross from the right handed Haller through in the middle and Adeyemi converted the lead for Dortmund (33').

It was the international's first goal of the season.

Leverkusen came out strong after the break, but suffered the next setback early on.

After a brilliant opening of the game by Bellingham, Wolf put the ball sharply in the middle and Leverkusen's Tapsoba steered the ball into his own goal under pressure (53').

Great support in goal

BVB acted ice cold in front, Kobel helped in the back.

The Swiss national goalkeeper responded brilliantly again when Adli headed the ball (57').

Leverkusen kept trying, but when things got dangerous, Kobel was there.

This was also the case on the hosts' last big opportunity through Diaby, who destroyed Kobel with a foot defense (77th).

Marco Reus also celebrated his comeback at BVB in the 85th minute when he was substituted on, as was Mats Hummels.

Bayer Leverkusen continue in the league at FC Augsburg on Friday (8.30 p.m.).

BVB welcomes SC Freiburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m.).
