SC Freising's Bavarian League volleyball team defied a short-term absence and won 3-0 at SG MTV Ingolstadt/TV Ingolstadt.

Freising

– The SC Freising Bayernliga volleyball players remain on the road to success.

Easier than expected and above all thanks to a solid team performance, they clearly prevailed at SG MTV Ingolstadt/TV Ingolstadt with 3:0 (25:15, 25:13, 25:22).

They maintained third place in the table and are still in the running for the runner-up championship.

The sports club team has been plagued by illness and injuries for weeks - and this misery continued before the away game in Ingolstadt: Only nine players were on board.

Tobias Hoffmann also got injured while warming up.

"So like so often this season, we had to improvise - but this time at very short notice -" said coach Alex Oestmann.

However, like his team, he remained completely calm.

Because the Domstädter have mastered improvisation perfectly.

So there was a change in the team: Simon Goisser left his usual position on the diagonal and switched to the wings, Maximilian Winter took over the diagonal position.

Freisinger dominate from the start

For an outsider it was not clear that the Freisingers had to improvise.

On the contrary: the SCF team played as one from the start.

The Ingolstadt team didn't find their game at all in the first two sets and couldn't build on the strong performance in the recent 3-2 win in Rosenheim.

Tactically clever serves and a closed block were the reasons for Freising's dominance in rounds one and two.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

"Of course, after the two clearly won sets, the difficulty lay in keeping the concentration high," remarked Coach Oestmann.

In fact: when the Freisingers slowed down a bit in the third round, the hosts came up.

However, the SCF team showed the necessary fighting spirit in the final phase and thus retained the upper hand.

"Ultimately, the people from Ingolstadt weren't able to exploit our small weaknesses," said Oestmann, who was ultimately very satisfied with his team's performance.

Early relegation secured

If you adjust the Bayernliga table, then the SCF in third place is the most stubborn pursuer of leaders SG Bayerwald Volleys.

In the eyes of Oestmann, this topic played only a minor role after the win.

“Of course, next Saturday's home game against second team TSV TB Munich will be a top game.

But what's more important to me is that we've secured a place in the league ahead of time."

In action at the SCF:

Geißelmeier, Goisser, Hoffmann, Kiendl, Kock, Liebl, Panev, Steinberg, Winter.
