Handball World Cup: "People must continue to believe in us", asks Nedim Remili

After their defeat in the World Cup final against Denmark (29-34), the Blues and their coach expressed their disappointment and their… pride.

Luka Karabatic (captain of the France team, on BeIN Sport):

“We got off to a bad start and behind it was complicated.

We manage to come back without necessarily playing extraordinarily well before the break.

It gave us hope.

But we did not manage to make them doubt.

They are successful, they played perfectly well and fully deserved their victory.

But I have the feeling that we didn't miss much.

On this World Cup, we have always been able to respond.

Nikola Karabatic (left back of the France team, on TF1):

“It's sad to end like that, to reach the final of a super world championship and to lose like that.

Denmark had a great game.

They had a lot of success in the first and second half.

Little whistles that went in their direction and not necessarily in ours.

That's how it is, that's sport.

It's hard to end like this after a month of fighting, of responding, but we never gave up.

We can be proud of what we have done, but it will remain very bitter.

Winning a fifth personal title was not necessarily the motivation, it was to win a title with this generation.

We are brothers on the pitch.

Most of us were Olympic champions together.

We wanted this gold medal at the World Championships.

We must use this defeat, use this anger as a driving force for the future.

Before the Olympics, there will also be the European Championships in 2024. For the Olympics, I hope that my body (he is 38 years old, editor's note) will allow me to perform well and still play and defend the blue jersey ".

Nedim Remili (half-center of the France team, on BeIN Sport):

“We have a bitter taste in our mouths because we fought.

Obviously the Danes played extremely well and we didn't start the match in the best possible way.

We are not questioning that.

Now, I am very proud to be part of this France team.

I think it's the best silver medal of my career.

I really feel that we have done a great job and that we are on a very good path.

People have to keep believing in us.

I promise everyone that we will be back.

In the state of mind, we were excellent.

We fought like dogs and that pretty much sums up this group.”

Guillaume Gille (coach of the France team, on BeIN Sports):

“We missed a lot of things.

Our start to the match does not allow us to lay the foundations of our game and that puts us in difficulty.

Conversely, it put the Danes in a form of tranquility, confidence, and we know the quality of these players when you put them in their comfort zone.

We nevertheless had the balls to worry them in the second half, but we failed to be effective on these possible tipping points.

We didn't have the whistles in our favor either.

But it must be recognized that we were a step below in this match.

Denmark's title is deserved and we can be happy to have been able to play the leading roles.

The group continues to move forward and grow.

These are many positive lessons for the future.
