The draw for the Copa del Rey semifinals has produced a classic, a Real Madrid-Barcelona, and an Osasuna-Athletic, in the only tie in the competition that will be played over two legs.

The first leg was scheduled for February 8 and the return for March 1, but since Madrid plays the Club World Cup on the first date, the schedule has had to vary: the first legs (at the Bernabéu and at El Sadar ) will be held between February 28 and March 1, while the return will be between April 4 and 6.

The federation will specify the days this Monday.

The final will be held on May 6 at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville.

The semifinalists have reached this stage of the Cup after overcoming various qualifiers.

Madrid, with 19 cups, although they have not won the title since 2014, with Bale's famous goal against Barcelona, eliminated Cacereño (0-1) in their first match of this tournament, to then obtain two very important victories against Villarreal (2-3) and Atlético (3-1, after an extension).

Barcelona, with 31 titles, is the king of the Cup. In this edition, they struggled to eliminate (3-4) Intercity from Primera RFEF, which forced extra time, although they later beat Ceuta by far (0-5). ), also from the First RFEF, and later against Real Sociedad (1-0) in a duel played at the Camp Nou.

Athletic, with 23 titles won, is a cupbearer team par excellence, which has had a long history until reaching these semifinals.

They have eliminated Alzira (0-2), Sestao (0-1), Eldense (1-6), Espanyol (1-0) and Valencia (1-3).

Runner-up in the 2020 and 2021 editions, Athletic is always a very competitive rival in this tournament.

Osasuna returns to a Cup semifinal 18 years after the last occasion.

In 2005 he even played in the final, which he lost to Betis (2-1).

The Navarrese team is having a great season, close to the European places in the League and with a career in the Cup where they have left behind Fuentes (1-4), Arnedo (1-3), Nástic (1-2), Betis (2-2 and pass on penalties) and Sevilla (2-1, after extension).
