In a brief press release, the French Basketball Federation reacted to the facts of racism which disrupted the end of a National 2 match between Charleville-Mézières and Metz.
"The FFBB opened a disciplinary file immediately after being informed of the remarks which would have been addressed to Mr. Loïc Akono", announced the body headed by Jean-Pierre Siutat.
On Sunday, the former Nanterre player was the target of racist insults uttered by a spectator in Charleville-Mézières.
The Messin entered the locker room shortly after, shocked.
“The FFBB would like to recall that its General Assembly unanimously voted zero tolerance for incivility, violence and unsportsmanlike behavior during official basketball matches,” the Federation also wrote.
It's the first time it's happened to me.
I took this position of going into the locker room and nothing was going to make me change.
It's a shame in 2023 to come to this, but I couldn't stay on this ground.
