The 54th edition will take off on August 27 from Caen (Calvados). Nice reunion in perspective.

And here is a reunion that will delight more than one in Normandy and elsewhere.

After having successfully given the start of the Solitaire du Figaro in 2044 and 2007, and hosted a stage in 2011, the city of Caen will be the setting for the launch of the 2023 edition on August 27th.

The Figaro Bénéteau 3 fleet will be moored in the Saint-Pierre basin, which will also host the event village of the race in the city centre.

Hosting the Solitaire du Figaro is a superb opportunity.

This is an opportunity to affirm Caen as a real sports city, capable of hosting the biggest and most prestigious competitions, and also to show the maritime character of Caen, with its port in the city center

", said delighted Joël Bruneau, mayor of Caen, this Tuesday during the presentation of this great departure organized for the third time in the Norman city.

A revamped partnership

From a sporting point of view, this destination gives us the opportunity to offer skippers a great course and a challenge that reflects the excellence of this offshore racing institution.

This should spice up the debates on the water and open up the game

”, added Joseph Bizard, general manager of OC Sport Pen Duick, the organizer of the Solitaire, before specifying: “

This Grand Départ which also marks the evolution of the partnership linking OC Sport Pen Duick and the Department of Loire-Atlantique, a major partner of the event.

From 2023 and until 2026, we have indeed decided with the Loire-Atlantique to concentrate our efforts on the reception in the heart of the department of the big departure or the arrival.

A decision that allows us to diversify the routes of each edition, while perpetuating its anchoring within the territory over time.

".

This 2023 edition will therefore find its epilogue in Loire-Atlantique after starting from Calvados.

A beautiful naval joust in perspective in which Tom Laperche, the winner of the 2022 edition, will not participate, leaving to sail under other skies.
