Maxi Kloiber and Felix Karpfinger did it: The two long-range shooters from SC Oberhummel fought their way through the qualification and are now going to the European Championships.
Ritten/Oberhummel
– The two long-range shooters from SC Oberhummel, Maxi Kloiber and Felix Karpfinger, qualified for the European Championships at the end of February at the weekend.
At the elimination course on the ice ring in Ritten (South Tyrol), the two stock athletes took second place in the age groups U 19 (Karpfinger) and U 23 (Kloiber).
Felix Karpfinger doesn't let anything burn
The duo started the qualification with bonus points thanks to the good placements in the Max Aicher Cup ranking and confirmed the status quo.
Felix Karpfinger (482 points) almost scored in a league of his own in the U19s together with Johannes Michl (540).
Only in the first round did the man from Erdinger have to give way to the dominator of the rankings, SV Pocking.
In the remaining two sections, the results were identical - and significantly better than those of the third and fourth.
Lampodinger Kilian (382) and Mike Reschberger (234) landed on these ranks.
They were followed by Christian Mayerhofer (233) and Benjamin Weißthanner (184).

Maxi Kloiber also buys the ticket to Carinthia
The course was similar for the U23s, where Lukas Michl and Maxi Kloiber lead the Max Aicher rankings and also fought a neck-and-neck race during the course.
While Michl was in the lead in the first two rounds, Kloiber won in the third.
Lukas Michl led the final standings with 489 points ahead of Kloiber (437).
Marcel Menacher (357) and the sensationally playing youngster Johannes Michl (296) ranked in the following places, ousting the established players Bastian Simon (242) and Jannik Purucker (234) from the U23 European Championship team.
The athletes will now start at the European Championships in Carinthia from February 24th to 26th.
There, the venue was relocated from Goggausee to Weißensee for weather-related reasons.
