Its last two “European” editions took place in 2007 and 2010 at the Spanish neighbor of Valencia.
And during the first, the French challenge led by Stéphane Kandler ranked 8th out of 11 challengers.
17 years later, the same Kandler joined forces with the Belgian Bruno Dubois to relaunch a K-Challenge team and finally try to win the mythical silver ewer which has been leaking from France since the initiatory regatta around the Isle of Wight having saw the schooner
surprise the local sailboats.
Barring a miracle, we will still have to wait before seeing the French sailors fill in what constitutes the biggest hole in their prize list, they who reign over all the oceans of the planet in offshore racing.
