Vitihna, Sarr, Spence: these winter recruits ready to burn in Ligue 1

2023-02-02T17:18:23.950Z

The 22nd day of Ligue 1 should make it possible to see - or to see again - at work some of the big winter recruits of the championship.

Vitinha (Olympique de Marseille, 22 years old)

He is one of the leading recruits in Ligue 1 this winter.

Considered very promising, Vitinha constitutes an investment - at least - in the medium term for Olympique de Marseille.

But the 22-year-old Portuguese could also bring immediate sporting added value.

Versatile attacker, able to participate in the game, to take depth, to serve his teammates or even to conclude (7 goals and 3 assists in 17 Portuguese league matches), his profile seems to fit perfectly with the style of play advocated by Igor Tudor in because of his ability to repeat high-intensity efforts and his willingness to participate in pressing.

He could prove to be a valuable asset for the Canebière club in the race for the podium... or even in the title race.

In any case, he will be scrutinized closely because the Olympian leaders

did not hesitate to drop a substantial sum - €32 million, bonus included - to afford his services.

Will he make his debut in the clash against OGC Nice?

Answer Sunday evening, from 8:45 p.m.

Amin Sarr (Olympique Lyonnais, 21 years old)

Bought from SC Heerenveen for €12 million, bonus included, to compensate for the departure of Karl Toko Ekambi from Stade Rennes and also to prepare for the future, Amin Sarr is eagerly awaited by Olympique Lyonnais.

Versatile - he can move forward or on one side - this powerful player who appreciates space, both to go deep and to hit the ball at the foot, could be complementary to Alexandre Lacazette on the front of the attack of the Gones.

If he knows how to shake the net (5 goals in 19 Dutch league games this season) - a quality sought after in the Rhône at the moment - he also turns out to be a good passer (5 assists in the Eredivisie this season) .

At 21, the promising Swede could help the Rhone team to relaunch in Ligue 1.

Djed Spence (Stade Rennes, 22 years old)

Loaned by Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season, Djed Spence should immediately benefit from a lot of playing time since he was recruited by Stade Rennes to compensate for the long unavailability - we are talking about four to six weeks - of Hamari Traoré, hit in the calf.

Offensive right back, the Briton has good running speed and good ball handling, qualities that allow him to create differences on projections with and without the ball.

He should be the perfect counterpart to the right of Adrien Truffert, whether in a four-man or five-man defense, and should make up for the - temporary - loss of the Rennes captain.

Jean-Victor Makengo (Lorient, 24 years old)

It is neither more nor less than the biggest transfer in the history of FC Lorient.

Bought from Udinese Calcio for €11m, Jean-Victor Makengo arrives in Brittany in the shoes of a starter.

Comfortable with the ball, the Frenchman, who played for Stade Malherbe Caen, OGC Nice and Toulouse FC, likes to project himself into the opposing camp to make the difference.

He is also a hardworking player who is useful in general pressing and recovery.

He has all the skills to easily blend into the (very) good group of Hakes.

And he could well help the Breton club to snatch a European qualification at the end of the season.

His recruitment, in any case, is a real mark of ambition.

Angelo Fulgini (RC Lens, 26)

A return.

After six months in Germany, at FSV Mainz 05, Angelo Fulgini was recruited this winter by RC Lens, on loan until the end of the season before being definitively transferred to Artois this summer against 7.5 M€.

Able to evolve in several positions – in support of the center forward, in the midfield or even on the right side as a piston – the ex-Angevin is a player who has physical qualities but above all technical.

Creative, he can unlock situations through his eye, his quality of transmission but also his percussion with the ball at his feet.

It's a recruitment that seems totally judicious on paper.

With his contribution, the Sang et Or are strengthening for the race for the podium...even for that of the title of champion of France.
