After an unimaginative performance at FC Augsburg, Bayer 04 Leverkusen sank back into no man's land in the Bundesliga and is still in ninth place.
At 0: 1 (0: 0) in Augsburg, Leverkusen hardly had any chances.
Mërgim Berisha scored a header for Augsburg at the start of the 19th matchday.
The FCA gets some air in the table basement with the win and is in 13th place for the time being.
Both teams didn't really dare to do much at the beginning.
Augsburg were the more active side, but Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby, who hit the post (30th minute), had the best chance in a tough first half.
Otherwise, without Florian Wirtz, who initially sat on the bench, the Leverkusen team could think of little.
Winter access Dion Beljo tried it for Augsburg from 18 meters, but Leverkusen keeper Lukáš Hrádecký parried without any problems (31st).
Even Wirtz can't do anything
In the second half, Leverkusen played forward without any ideas.
Augsburg then also took the lead: After a corner by Arne Engels, Leverkusen did not match the assignment.
The ball got to Berisha, who headed in from a few meters (55').
Then Bayer coach Xabi Alonso Wirtz came on.
But even the top talent couldn't turn the game around, instead Augsburg continued to counterattack and could have scored the second goal.
The gentle upward trend under Alonso has stopped for the time being.
