We want to mark the occasion and anchor ourselves in the sporting landscape.

We want to make an impression and show that we are serious.

The boss of the evening promises great things, during the fights of course, but throughout the night.

Chessboxing is the subject of a documentary, soon to be released.

For several years,

Canal+

teams have followed Guillaume Salançon and his men, from the birth of sport to the world championships in Turkey in 2019. A film entitled "

Mental Combat, the birth of a sport

", a barely veiled reference to the “Mortal Kombat” video games.

A trailer for the film will then be unveiled on the giant screens of the Cabaret Sauvage.

It was truly heartbreaking.

We can't wait to show this documentary.

It is a sport that deserves the interest of Canal+.

Jean-Marc Juramie

At the birth of this project, a man: Monsieur Poulpe.

The actor and videographer fell in love with sport and befriended Guillaume Salançon.

Accustomed to the encrypted channel with Studio Bagel, it is the jack-of-all-trades of humor who proposes the idea of a film to Canal +.

"

Octopus and Guillaume Salançon came to see me to tell me about this chessboxing story and I liked it immediately

," says Jean-Marc Juramie, the channel's deputy general manager.

First, I saw a nice marketing axis.

Second, both fascinated me.

I found it super interesting to show our Canal subscribers the birth of a sport.

I find these people pretty crazy.

You have to be crazy to start a new sport.

Present at the last IFC in October, the person in charge of the antennas and programs of the encrypted channel will be present this Friday to announce the release of the documentary.

This film, approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, will be broadcast on March 11 on

Canal+

, after the boxing match between Tony Yoka and Carlos Takam.

The channel even considered March 8 for a broadcast after the Champions League round of 16 second leg between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in order to reach a wider audience but for scheduling problems and aiming for better target, the date of the 11th was retained.

It was really a crush,

continues Jean-Marc Juramie.

We can't wait to show this documentary.

It is a sport that deserves the interest of Canal+
