Soccer player Almuth Schult is pregnant again.
The 31-year-old confirmed this to the German Press Agency.
First, the NDR had reported about it.
The offspring of the mother of two is expected at the end of August.
"Pregnancy makes us all look happier to the future," said the former VfL Wolfsburg player to the broadcaster.
Most recently, the grief after the death of her father-in-law Schult pushed further career planning into the background.
The goalkeeper then left her last club in Los Angeles.
Schult is currently without a club.
She announced that she wanted to continue playing after the pregnancy.
"I would like to continue my football career after the pregnancy and the birth," she was quoted as saying by the NDR, but also restricted this plan.
"But of course we have to see how well that fits in with the new challenges in family life."
The national goalkeeper is therefore also faced with an uncertain situation in the DFB team.
The goalkeeper will miss the upcoming World Cup from July 20 to August 20 in Australia and New Zealand due to her pregnancy.
National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg congratulated Schult and emphasized her importance for the DFB selection.
“In the past three years, she has impressively taken on many challenges and new roles in the national team.
She was also a great and important source of support for the entire team at the European Championships.«
Schult was supplanted in the national selection by Merle Frohms as number one and was already the substitute keeper at the successful European Championships last year.
"For the near future, we wish her above all that the pregnancy goes well and that everyone stays healthy," said Voss-Tecklenburg in a statement from the German Football Association (DFB).
The title collector would like to continue working as a TV expert until she is born
In December, Schult claims to have reached an agreement with a foreign club, but initially had to cancel for personal reasons.
Last year's engagement with US club Angel City FC was over after just a few months.
Until the birth, she wants to push ahead with some projects and continue her job as a TV expert.
Most recently, Schult worked as an expert for ARD during the men's soccer World Cup in Qatar.
Schult became European champion with the German team in 2013, Olympic champion in 2016 and second at the European Championships last year.
With VfL Wolfsburg, she won the 2014 Champions League, won the German championship six times and won the DFB Cup eight times.
