With all due respect to the Lakers' record and the team's pursuit of the top spot for the playoffs, these days US sports fans and NBA fans mainly follow the point balance of LeBron James is close to completing an amazing personal achievement and surpassing Kareem Abdul Jabbar as the NBA's all-time points leader. So tonight LeBron achieved both: James scored 26 points (to which he added 7 rebounds and 7 assists) and along the way led led his team to a road victory - and now he is only 63 points away from Abdul Jabbar's point record of 38,387.
"I felt that tonight I had to do a digging job," he said of his penetration to the basket, "We needed some rebounds, some power baskets, I felt that we attacked the basket correctly, especially in the last quarter."
The Lakers trailed for three quarters, even by double digits, but LeBron was the one who scored the three-pointer 2:35 minutes to the end that set the turning point.
The winning basket was scored 35 seconds to the end by Anthony Davis, who finished with 31 points and 14 rebounds.
Indiana again witnessed a historic night for the league: in May 2021, Russell Westbrook set a league record here when he reached 181 triple-doubles and equaled Oscar Robertson, and in this hall in December 2021, Stephen Curry scored 5 three-pointers and joined Ray Allen as the league's all-time leader in three-pointers.
Tonight Aaron Naismith scored a career-high 24 points for Indiana, Tyler Halliburton scored 26 and dished out 12 in their first game in three weeks, Myles Turner scored 20 and picked up 13 after his two-year contract extension,
"I think it's one of the greatest records in sports, in general," LeBron said, "It's like baseball's home run record. It's one of those records that you think will never be broken. You see players who start chasing the record for years, and all of a sudden you say, 'Oh, It's really happening'. It's fun to watch as a sports fan."

A nice victory for Cleveland, in a game that will be remembered for a brawl on the field: Donovan Mitchell and Dillon Brooks were sent off after brawling on the floor, immediately after a Cleveland player threw a ball at his opponent following a foul Rude according to him.
The confrontation between the two heated up and even reached the spectators' seats on the floor, as the teams from both teams and the players urgently tried to separate them from each other.
Mitchell, among other things, was also frustrated by his difficult evening, which included only 6 points on 2 of 11 from the field, but after the suspension the Cubs managed to escape and open a gap against the team that "enjoys" the image of the "trash talk champion of the league".
