In a video released from the game, the assistant coach, a student at a local college, is seen wearing the number 1 jersey, with the name of another student on the team.
According to the footage, she did not hesitate to take an active part in the game, aggressively penetrating the basket, and even blocking her opponents mercilessly, in front of her stunned apprentices.
The management of Churchland High School held a meeting with parents, who together with the players - chose to cancel the rest of the team's season.
"Coaches always preach to the kids about integrity and fairness and all that stuff, so I was just shocked," said the father of a 13-year-old from the team.
The high school administration has launched an investigation into the matter.
The family, whose coach wore their daughter's shirt, announced that their daughter no longer wishes to attend Churchland High School, and is also seeking an apology from the school administration.
