The Syrian women's basketball team defeated its Iraqi counterpart, 62-45 points, in the opening of its participation in the West Asian Championship held in Iraq, with the participation of Lebanon and Palestine as well.

Our national team will meet its Lebanese counterpart tomorrow, while it will face the Palestinian national team the day after tomorrow, noting that the tournament system stipulates that the teams play with each other in the first round, and at the end of the first and second qualify for the final match, while the third and fourth face each other in the third and fourth place match.

Our team’s delegation includes female players, Laila Hassan Agha, Shahd Al-Dada, Sandra Safar, Naya Babi, Sonia Jamsakian, Sari Dawalibi, Zainab Zureik, Aya Al-Muhammad, Julie Khuraim, Luna Ayyash, Nour Sweid and Yasmine Assi.
