For the second time since 2017, Lukas Podolski has been voted Goalscorer of the Year by viewers of the ARD sports show.
His goal from 60 meters for Górnik Zabrze in November 2022 was voted for by over 43,000 fans or 14.19 percent of the participants.
The 37-year-old finished first, just ahead of DFB captain Alexandra Popp (12.9 percent of the votes), while Schalke's Rodrigo Zalazar was third with 10.4 percent.
A goal by the former national player has already been voted goal of the month 13 times, and no other has been anywhere near as successful.
They are followed by Jürgen Klinsmann (seven times) and Klaus Fischer, Mario Basler and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (all six times).
Podolski scored his first goal of the month in January 2004, and he did it four times in 2005 alone.
Podolski scored goal number 12 in March 2017 in his farewell game for the German national team.
He celebrated seven of his 13 chosen goals for his hometown club 1. FC Köln.
