The actor and screenwriter Lior Raz was honored this evening (Sunday) with a special ceremony, his brother was chosen as an honorary ambassador of the World Judo Federation (IJF), during the Paris Grand Slam.

Rez received the special signal, from the president of the World Judo Association Marius Wieser, when even before that, he got to distribute the medals, in the weight category up to 100 kg, where Peter Palchik won the bronze medal and a warm hug from Rez on the podium.

After the ceremony, Raz said briefly on stage: "I am happy to be part of the judo family, a family that promotes peace, love and unity."

Israel Hayom has learned that Weiser recently contacted the Chairman of the Israel Judo Association, Moshe Ponti, and told him that he had seen 'Fauda' and was very impressed by the Israeli series, and especially by Raz's game, which is why he invited him to the Grand Slam in Paris.

Raz came to the Tel Aviv Grand Slam last year and this year too he is expected to come during the three days of the competition, which will open next week from February 16 (with the participation of 400 athletes from 54 countries).
