Omar Kursia (20) believes that going to Cyprus will be a springboard for him to the big leagues in Europe • Although his team Paralimni is not impressive so far this season, he is sure: "It doesn't matter where you prove yourself"

In recent years we have seen quite a few footballers going to Europe, including those who stuck a peg for a period in the Premier League and their ability led them to an upgrade, and on the other hand those who did not stand out in the local arena, but with great work by their agent and with a potential that they did not have time to realize in the Holy Land, they get a chance to demonstrate it in more distant places.

The one who belongs to the second group is Omar Kursia, the Cypriot Paralimni player who signed on the neighboring island last summer.

Kursia grew up in the youth department of Hapoel Tel Aviv and from there he went on to become the graduates of Hapoel Nir Ramesh and Hapoel PT. 10 appearances in the league and 2 more in the cup.

"Going to play in Europe was a goal for me from a young age and that's where I always aimed," he says in an interview with "Israel Hayom", "I believed that I could make great progress if I went abroad at a young age and the Cypriot league, which brings many high-quality foreigners who have made great careers, is definitely a league Excellent to use as a springboard for the top leagues."

Is it scary to go to Europe even before you have proven yourself in Israel?

"It's not scary because my opinion is that if you believe in yourself and your abilities it doesn't really matter where you prove yourself for the first time, whether it's in Israel or whether it's in Europe. I believe in my strong points which are the aggressive attitude, passion, game vision and wisdom and I can demonstrate the It's also outside of Israel."

On Saturday, Paralimni broke a streak of five consecutive losses, how does this affect the atmosphere in the club?

"We are in a period of losses, but we are playing good football and we choose to take the good points and always be optimistic and positive and do not let the negative atmosphere enter the locker room. The team's ambitions for the near future are to return to winning ways and to accumulate as many points and confidence as possible for the playoffs, and of course later on to ensure staying in the league." .

Football in Cyprus has improved a lot recently.

What differences can be seen between the league there and the Premier League in Israel?

"Football in Cyprus has definitely improved, one of the notable things that is different from the country is that there is no restriction on foreigners and a lot of very high-quality foreigners who have had excellent careers in England, Italy and more come here, which contributes to the level of the league and brings it another stage and an audience alongside it."

What is your biggest ambition?

Where do you see yourself in 3 years?

"My greatest ambition is to play in the Premier League for Liverpool and to go up with the Israel national team to a major tournament. In 3 years I see myself playing in one of the top 5 leagues in Europe."

Corcia, who as mentioned can play in several roles, states that his role models are Carles Puyol and Casemiro.

The Barcelona icon and Manchester United midfielder might also have liked Corsia's answer when I ask him how he manages alone at such an age in a foreign country.

"Living alone at the age of 20, in my opinion, develops your personality a lot, you learn to cope on your own, solve problems and discover more about yourself, and of course it helps a lot to focus purely on football," he says.

"Of course I have tremendous support from my dear family who is with me and always helps me and I am in contact with Ido Shahar and Omari Altman of course who play here. We meet to watch games from time to time and of course for anything or help I need they are here for me."

Altman is having an amazing season.

How was he caught there in Cyprus?

How much is he talked about?

"Altman is definitely having an amazing season and I am very happy for him and hope that he will only rise more and more, he is highly valued here in Cyprus and he is a senior candidate and deserves the player of the season here."

This summer the Israeli national team will play in the European Under-21 Championship. How much is this on your mind?

Do you think you could be part of the squad?

"First of all, representing the Israeli national team is always a great privilege and a great honor, I always aspire and aim to represent the Israeli national team at every opportunity and I definitely believe that I can be part of the squad this summer."
