Taekwondo: bronze medal for Dana Azran in Turkey Israel today

The runner-up of the world champions opened the season of international competitions, with the bronze medal in the President's Cup championship that takes place in Istanbul


The runner-up of the Taekwondo World Champions, Dana Azran, opened the season of international competitions last night (Saturday) with the bronze medal at the President's Cup Championship held in Istanbul, Turkey.

Azran, who competes in the weight category over 73 kg, participated in the championship, which is part of the world tour and provides an important score for the Olympic ranking for Paris 2024. During the day of the fights, Azran defeated an opponent from Turkey in the round of 16, an opponent from Austria won in the quarterfinals, and was stopped in the semifinals against an opponent from England.

Biana Lager (57 kg), finished in fifth place, after achieving a victory over her opponent from Spain in the preliminary stage and a victory in the round of 16 over an opponent from Turkey.

In the quarter finals, she was stopped against Turkey ranked 1 in the world. 

Also participating yesterday in the bronze medalist competition from the Tokyo 20202 Olympics, Avisheg Samberg (49 kg) who lost in the round of 16 against an opponent from Turkey, and Rebecca Bayich (46 kg) who lost in the round of 16 to an opponent from Spain. 

Today, Nimrod Karbitsky (68 kg) and Dima Nagiv (63 kg) will participate, and in the Paralympic category Asaf Yassour (58 kg) and Adnan Milad (63 kg) will take part.

The delegation is accompanied by national coach Yachiam Sharabi, national team coach Roman Rusinov and masseuse Antonio Arbid.
