Israel's taekwondo team continues to bring achievements, when this evening (Sunday), Nimrod Krivitsky (68 kg) and Assaf Yassur (58 kg) won the bronze medals, in the President's Cup held in Istanbul, Turkey.
Krivitsky defeated an opponent from Turkey in the preliminary stage, an opponent from Spain in the round of 16, and in the quarterfinals he defeated the Hungarian champion and secured a medal.
In the semi-finals, he was stopped against the Turkish opponent after the fight ended in a draw in the sets in the third round and was decided on the upper hand.
This is a competition that gives an important score in the ranking for Paris 2024.
In the Paralympic finals, the Israeli team reaps successes when Yassour (58 kg Paralympic) wins in the quarter-finals against an opponent from Spain, in the semi-finals a Spanish opponent ranked 4 wins again and picks up the silver medal after losing in the final against the opponent from Japan.
In the 63 kg weight category, Adnan Milad finished fifth in the competition.
Adnan won for the first time in the world tour competition in the round of 16 against an opponent from Egypt, but was stopped in an excellent fight against the European champion and the vice-champion of the world Mehmit Bozetka of Turkey.
Yachiam Sharabi, the national coach of the teams said: "I am happy that we finished with three medals in this championship which is an important preparation and provides a significant score for the rest of the season.
I am sure that we will continue to improve and advance towards the next competitions, the World Championships in Azerbaijan in May and the Grand Prix competitions, with the main goal being to achieve the Olympic and Paralympic criteria that will be set at the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024.''
