Alexis Pinturault: "Skiing at home can give me a little extra soul"

2023-02-06T16:08:15.127Z

INTERVIEW – Despite his difficulties for two years, the Frenchman wants to shine at the Worlds in Courchevel.

On March 20, 2021, Alexis Pinturault won his personal grail.

Namely, winning the big crystal globe rewarding the overall winner of the World Cup.

A performance that only three French people had achieved before him: Jean-Claude Killy (1967 and 1968), Michèle Jacot (1970) and Luc Alphand (1997).

Alas, after reaching this summit, the native of Courchevel was unable, or could not, to remobilize thereafter, living in particular from the painful 2022 Olympic Games and without the slightest medal.

Nevertheless, since the start of the current season, even if he has only been on the podium - at Beaver Creek in Super-G (3rd) -, Pinturault has found a smile and desire.

Enough to hope to shine at the Worlds organized at his home in Courchevel, and that he starts this Tuesday with the combined (11 a.m. Super-G, 2.30 p.m. slalom) before competing in the Super-G (February 9), the giant (February 17), the slalom (February 19) and maybe the parallel (February 15)?
