General Sports Federation: Suspend sports activities and devote efforts to help those affected by the earthquake

The General Sports Federation announced the suspension of all sports activities and events until further notice, and to devote all efforts to help the citizens affected by the earthquake that hit Syria at dawn today.

The Sports Federation indicated, in a statement that SANA received a copy of, that all sports institutions and facilities, all cadres, sports teams, and volunteers have been placed at the disposal of administrative units to provide immediate aid and urgent assistance to citizens affected by the earthquake.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit the Iskenderun region at dawn today, followed by another 6.4-magnitude earthquake in the Taurus region on the Syrian-Turkish border, and a number of weaker aftershocks, affecting several governorates and damaging a number of buildings as a result.
