The Alpine Skiing World Championships begin this Monday in Courchevel-Méribel with the women's combined.

Federica Brignone takes the gold medal, especially after an exceptional first downhill run.

The Italian then confirmed in the slalom, finishing with a time of 1:57.47 in the combined.

The victory did not come down to much.

Mikaela Shiffrin, a great slalom specialist, was very close to making up for her delay of 96 hundredths after the first run, but the American missed just four gates from the finish, before being disqualified.

Wendy Holdener of Switzerland set the fastest time in the slalom and took the silver medal.

Ricarda Haaser completes the podium.

On the French side, Laura Gauché achieved the best performance with a seventh place, +3.71 from the gold medalist.
